INGREDIENTS
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
1 medium yellow onion, thinly sliced
½ pound shaved beef or thinly sliced steak
1 teaspoon Diamond Crystal® Kosher Salt, divided
¼ teaspoon black pepper
4 slices Texas toast
4-6 slices provolone cheese
DIRECTIONS
Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onions and ¼ teaspoon kosher salt and cook until lightly caramelized, about 10 minutes. Remove from pan.
Add beef and the remaining salt and pepper and cook until browned, about 5 minutes. Remove from pan.
Place a slice of provolone cheese, beef and onions onto 2 slices of toast.
Top both with remaining cheese and remaining slices of bread.
Melt remaining butter in same skillet and add sandwiches.
Cook until cheese is melted and toast is golden-brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
Tip: Add sliced bell peppers to pan with onions and cook together until tender!
